Pete Buchanan - Founder & Director

Pete Buchanan is an electrical professional with experience spanning defence electronics, industrial manufacturing, critical infrastructure maintenance, utility metering, energy operations, and EV charging infrastructure.

Beginning his career as an Electronics Technician in the Royal Australian Navy, Pete later completed an electrical apprenticeship within one of Australia's largest food manufacturing environments before moving into industrial maintenance, healthcare infrastructure, utility services, and the rapidly evolving energy sector.

Throughout his career, Pete has held technical, operational, and executive leadership roles, progressing from field-based electrical work through to state management and executive leadership within large-scale energy infrastructure businesses.

His experience includes smart metering programs, utility operations, EV charging infrastructure, field service delivery, operational leadership, and emerging energy technologies. Pete is certified across leading EV charging platforms including Tritium, Kempower, Ocular and Envex and has experience supporting infrastructure incorporating ABB and Sinexcel technologies.

Pete founded NextPhase Energy Group following a desire to build a business focused on reliability, technical discipline, and long-term infrastructure outcomes. His vision is to help clients navigate the growing complexity of electrification through practical, technically sound solutions that simplify the management of modern energy assets.
